*CONTINUING* to happen under Trump and there are valid arguments to be made that he's accelerated it but it's hardly new. In fact it was inevitable back when we first started weaponizing the dollar (sanctions, etc.) and the dollar-aligned monetary systems (assets frozen or seized, etc.).

We created the very conditions that necessitated other nations divesting from the dollar and finding/creating alternative international payment systems simply to protect themselves from a corrupt rapacious western system that treated them like a mere resource to be extracted.

It's the same story with our naked militarism and willingness to commit atrocities and war crimes. The rest of the world, especially those parts of it we label "enemies", will and damn well should take steps to prepare and protect themselves.

Thinking this would all play out any other way isn't thinking; it's hubris and ignorance... and a bit of insanity just for flavour.

You guys were right to freeze Russia's assets @Garraty_47 . it was the right thing to do.

Much is made that the US under Biden did the 'wrong' thing. but in reality Russia committed international war crimes so the seizure is justified. Likewise if a person commits criminal acts, the state seizes his house & whatever they can.

I think Putin should pay at least $1 Trillion more to Ukraine and the world for the dsmage he's done and the crimes he committed. Selling off one of his palaces would be a good start.

I and many others called him out when he sent KGB agents abroad years before to poison his enemies . Do you remember that? And his soldiers have murdered thousands of innocent civilians in the Ukraine.

Yes Russia's assets should be seized with no compensation for them.

It's still closed so if price of oil is falling its being subsidized by the US Strategic Oil Reserve and perhaps others as well.

If the War remains unresolved by end of summer or fall expect the prices on everything to go up.

Well into the Fall and possibly into 2027 which will drag oil prices higher and possibly the stock market down.

It appears that your President Trump doesn't want to back down because he hates to lose.

Especially now that he's in real deep with Iran.

Iran and the USA are playing a waiting game to see which ones cracks first.

Iran has established for itself a track record of violating the deals it makes.

So they can't be dealt with to any positive, meaningful effect. It's time to stop making deals they won't honor and just annihilate them.
