whole in Cape Cod while he was diving for lobster.

"Initially, Packard thought he was inside a great white shark, but he couldn’t feel any teeth and he hadn’t suffered any obvious wounds. It quickly dawned on him that he had been swallowed by a whale.

“I was completely inside; it was completely black,” Packard said. “I thought to myself, ‘there’s no way I’m getting out of here. I’m done, I’m dead.’ All I could think of was my boys — they’re 12 and 15 years old.”

Outfitted with scuba gear, he struggled and the whale began shaking its head so that Packard could tell he didn’t like it. He estimated he was in the whale for 30 to 40 seconds before the whale finally surfaced.

“I saw light, and he started throwing his head side to side, and the next thing I knew I was outside (in the water),” said Packard, who lives in Wellfleet.

At least it wasn't a shark.

Whales are mammals so they're almost human.

Whale was like "This is just a warning, hooman. Keep stealing my food and YOU'LL be my food."

I liked that game played on old BBSes back in the 80's. I forgot it's name but it used "hooman" and was about exploring sectors of space and conizing (even making) planets.

"Rats are mammals so they are almost human!" That is dumb, Joe. So dumb. I like you, but, that is dumb.

Sometimes, the Whale can be Man's best friend, @Blurt, @Lily & @Oerdin:

....they can save us in our time of need.

Whale probably didn't kill that guy cuz it sensed it wasn't a threat.

But the Whale def. sees the Shark as Our common enemy because in all likelihood it feeds on its calves.

Sure. However, how does that make them almost human?

You have less to fear from a whale than you do from a shark.

Or...you have more to fear from a shark than a whale.

Again, I generally agree. That doesn't make them almost human.

Jomo’s indulging in his usual fuzzy-brained “thinking”: whales are less to be feared by humans than sharks, not because whales are more human than sharks but because sharks are known to prey on humans more than are whales.

Jeebus, J’Oh, ya thimble-capped ninny!
