It makes good biscuits pretty quickly, but its mostly hydrogenated flour and dehydrated lard with yeast and some chemicals.

Trans fat FTW!I see, thanks. I could have googled it of course but was feeling lazy. The first thing which came to mind was this... I got a taste for the stuff last year, after feeling greedy one evening and polishing off half a jar on toast at once and felt sick as a dog after. I haven't touched it since Lulz.

Using Bisquick is more of a tradition than a conscious choice... all the recipes (sausage balls, etc.) that have been handed down specify Bisquick so that's what I've used. Once this box is gone I'll give the substitute a whirl.

Add milk, egg, and a spoon of vegetable oil for pancakes; sausage balls are just sausage, cheese, and Bisquick. If I've used it to make biscuits it's been so long ago now I don't recall. Not a big biscuit eater.
