We all know that. Thanks for pointing out that we vote directly for the candidate. We dont directly vote for electors
PS: there is no electoral college in other elections. You seem rather fixated on the POTUS which is one off many many many many elected officials in the USA.
Now, professor.
You say the USA isn't a democracy even though a democracy and a republic are not mutually exclusive (thanks for finally admitting that),
so describe to us (again since in your view we are not a Democratic Republic, a Representative Democracy, although no self respecting historian/political scientist says otherwise) what an actual democracy that is a republic look like, and tell us if there is one anywhere in the world. In other words, is the very idea of a democratic republic (again in your lone view) only a hypothetical form of government?
Oh, and did you know that Fruits country is the highest ranked Democracy in the world while the US has slipped to 36th under Trump?
Yes, according to major global democracy indices and research organizations like the Varieties of Democracy (V-Dem) Institute and The Economist Intelligence Unit, the United States was generally ranked higher worldwide as a democracy before Donald Trump first took office in 2017. [, , ]
Key Findings from Democracy Indices
- V-Dem Institute: Sweden’s Varieties of Democracy Institute classified the U.S. as a robust "liberal democracy" prior to 2017. During Trump's initial term and subsequent years, the U.S. dropped in their rankings (falling from the top 20 into the 30s and lower), with reports noting a steady erosion of democratic institutional norms, checks and balances, and trust in elections.
