I met a dude recently who's a civil war buff and we were shooting the shit. He's originally from the Shenandoah Valley area somewhere.

Turns out his 4th great grandfather was George Trenholm who was the CSA's SecTreasury at the end of the war. I didn't know much about him so I been reading, very interesting dude and you can look him up on Wiki if you're not familiar with his exploits.

I checked out one of the footnotes and now I've ordered a copy of Bulloch's "The secret service of the Confederate States in Europe"
... which has a lot to do with blockade running and getting money into England to buy ships. Some of the money was French, on top of that.
