Really ? So where are all the other big stars his talent gave to the world ? Only one, must be something to do with him being a piece of shit stuck to her shoe.
Well, he did kind of invent rock and roll. Ike Turner co-wrote "
Rocket 88" in 1951 which is considered the first rock and roll song ever. So there is that. He also discovered legendary R&B artists such as Howlin' Wolf, Buddy Guy and Elmore James long before Tina Turner. He also influenced and wrote music for BB King, Little Richard and Chuck Berry. Later in the 1970's, he recorded, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Duane Allman, Little Richard and Frank Zappa at his LA studios.
He wasn't a nice man but in reality he had a far greater impact on popular music than Tina Turner ever had. He wrote the vast majority of Ike and Tina's songs (that weren't covers), did all of the arrangements, produced all of the albums and managed and booked all of the tours. Tina was the voice, nothing more. That being said, she was a brilliant and talented performer. Had he not beat the shit out of Tina Turner he would have been remembered as one of rock and rolls greatest pioneers, instead he is remembered as a coke-addled, violent piece of shit.
Which is fair in a way as he was a coke-addled piece of shit.
