Trump wants this bloodless revolution thinking there's no consequences for spewing out all this division & hate. But he's not there yet. America still isn't Nazi Germany or Stalinist Russia. He cant just wipe his enemies out with a secret police.

I expect there'll be more assassination attempts & even some successful ones in his coming term.

I wouldn't wanna work for this new DOGE department. The kinda blowback will make many of its employees targets for those affected by its cuts.
I see that you're a true optimist.

Way I see it, Trump's biggest mistake thus far is trying to bully Jerome Powell & the US Fed. But they could shit on his parade with a nice stock market crash before or shortly after Powells term ends in 2026. I know this is something Trump said he greatly fears as he hoped it would happen under Biden or Harris but not him. He said he doesn't wanna be known as the next Herbert Hoover.

I think the Fed were willing to hold up the economy & markets for Biden but they wont extend that courtesy for trump if he keeps threatening them.

Trump's biggest threats arent from the left but from within aka the Deep State. It isnt wise to mess with the Fed.

Exactly. I'm trying to understand their reasoning.
That half of the country is still in the "rules for thee but not for me" phase.

They think they can ignore what they don't like and force what they like.

It's going to be an interesting 2025

You'll see different in just a few weeks.

The resistance is real.
One of us well, guaranteed. 'Sanctuary' cities are illegal, and under Homan, the laws are finally going to be enforced. There's going to be a lot of 'gnashing of teeth and rending of vestments' when that happens.

We'll see how that turns out then, I guess.

Probably not the way MAGA thinks, however, Homan or not.

Resistance against apprehension and deportation is harboring by overt action.
No it isn't. What we're actually talking about is these cities won't ASSIST. The statute has nothing to do with not assisting.

Not assisting isn't harboring, as y'all will discover.

Not assisting could be construed as obstructing, which in the context of immigration law can be construed as harboring.

You're right that we'll see how it shakes out, but the intent is explicit, and the explicit intent will be taken into account.

Bottom line: it's wishful thinking that MAGA will extrapolate these "laws" to prosecute officials they don't like.

That's not what the outcry about the incoming Trump Administration holds. I mean, it's hard to reconcile calling him 'Hitler' while also claiming his administration will be toothless; it's one or the other, right?

How can it be obstruction when there are jurisdictional obligations for each entity?

Enforcing immigration law is for ICE/CPB

I never thought of him as Hitler. But he sure is a cancer on the country.

Once MAGA realizes he's coming for them as well there may be a sea change in opinion. Especially when families are torn apart because of birthright citizenship and the latinas, blacks and mexicans that voted for him find themselves in the deportation line.

As I understand it, Homan is going for a 'they all go' approach, so families with anchor babies will be ejected in toto.

The problem stems from the Obama Administration stomping all over Arizona for SB1070. That administration set precedent by refusing States' Rights on the issue, which means that the Trump administration can do the same thing.

That is fucked up. Not the first time Americans deport Americans of Mexican descent though.
The operating principle I suss out from that is that anchor babies are anchors no longer. Birth tourism denied. If the parents aren't citizens, the baby isn't one, either, born here or not.

I could be wrong on that, but that's the principle I see coming down the line. No more hopping the border to pop out a papoose so you can stay.

If they're in your pantry hiding from ICE and you know it, you are committing a crime.

How many beaners can you fit in your pantry?
What bullshit. What's really happening is the state is NOT going to assist ICE in any of this. They'll be on their own, and if they break any state laws in the process they'll be held up.

Just keep making shit up to suit your narrow worldview. The reality is actually quite different.

I don't hate anyone. But laws are laws. If we have to follow 'em, so do you. And if you don't have to follow 'em, neither do we. It's not racist to hold everybody to the same laws. It IS racist to use race to excuse anybody from following the law.

That's what fairness looks like.
