So, it's storytime.
I served 22 years plus in the U.S. Army including probably about 4 years total in combat environments. I was never an infantryman, yet I earned a combat infantryman's badge because I was attached to an infantry unit in combat, understand? My specialty was logistics.
'Supply or soldiers die' was the motto I lived by. “Sustinendum Victoriam”.
I was directly complicit in the death of thousands, no doubt. I was very efficient in providing others the means for causing death at a catastrophic scale. I did this in the name of freedom. Not in the name of 'white freedom'. Just 'freedom'.
Anyhoo..
The third time I got blown up I was in the passenger side of a HEMTT (pronounced Hemmet) truck. I remember a flash, and that's it. Next thing I know I'm in a hospital bed a few days later with some metal from the truck in my guts and the left side of my face swollen and a killer headache. Eardrums blown, couldn't see out of my left eye, and 1st degree burns on most of my left side. I checked my dick and nutsack and they were intact, thank christ. Arms/legs moved, fingers/toes worked. I was lucky. My driver was dead. He was also burned beyond recognition so I was to find out. How was it I didn't suffer the same fate? Two black dudes risked their lives and pulled my unconscious ass out of the truck while there was still time. One of my Sergeant's told me who was also wounded during the same roadside bomb attack. He was a black man, too. He got shot in the back. After the bomb went off, you see, and before the cavalry arrived the enemy mfrs started shooting at the soldiers who were helping the wounded. Both the black dudes who saved my ass were killed in this secondary attack. Fucked up shit. I can never thank either one of them for the gift of my life.
So, all the big racist talk I tend to find worthless, especially coming from peeps who've never fought for anybody's freedom, including their own.
