Hopefully he'll only post in this thread for a bit and keep the rest of the site a bit tidier. This will be much appreciated and I know everyone agrees

Nope, not in California. Only 10% of the population smokes here.

As many times as that state has been on fire recently I'm pretty sure you've all gotten more smoke in your lungs than I did in the same timeframe. I just enjoyed it more.

It wasn't meant to be taken literally.

...but y'all have been rather combustible in recent years.
I wouldn't be surprised if your smoke intake was at least in the same ballpark as mine.

CA is a big state. The fires in LA had no impact on air quality in NorCal, though it is the most densely populated area of the state.

As bad as the Santa Ana winds are out there, they also clear the air pretty quickly.

The last big fire in NorCal was the Paradise fire. I think that was before covid.

Yes, research suggests that wildfire exposure in California may be associated with an increased risk of certain types of cancer. Specifically, studies indicate a potential link between wildfire smoke exposure and higher rates of lung cancer and brain tumors. However, more research is needed to fully understand the relationship between wildfire exposure and cancer risk.

Elaboration:
  • Potential Lung Cancer Risk:
A study found that people living within 50 km of wildfires had a slightly higher incidence of lung cancer compared to those not exposed.
  • Potential Brain Tumor Risk:
The same study also indicated a higher incidence of brain tumors in individuals exposed to wildfires.

Most wildfires are not in the metro areas. Last year's LA fires really were out of the norm.

They are usually out in the forests. Typically, surrounding places like LA up in the mountains/hills.

They can easily be more than 50 km away.
