I don't need convincing, sir. The question is how do you get the 160 or so millions who do to stop? Is that a reasonable proposition? How does that happen...what inspires it? ...and I mean particularly when people are little more than herd animals politically. What is your solution to that?

If I knew how to convince all those other bipedal apes to behave rationally I would've already done so. Unfortunately they're all just going to have to figure it out for themselves... or not. Not long ago I would've said there's no chance at all and I still don't think it's likely but more than ever seem to be waking up.

Whether or not we can reach a critical mass of people actually voting like it matters instead of merely going through the motions is something I'm skeptical about but also can't help feeling more hopeful too.

It kinda sucks but people *have* to change from the inside out... any alternative where a choice is made for them (such as the system we have now) is just one form of authoritarianism or another.

All I can do is hope 'Muricans evolve, preferably in my lifetime so I can see it happen. I've been waiting a really really long time and I deserve to have that experience Bobdammit.

. Sometimes the solution is to recognize the situation you are in and do the best you can in it and know that it's the way it is for reasons you can not remedy. Perhaps only maintain your own integrity. Bad times are a good time to do that. That is when you actually gain in most important ways.
For example: My yard is soaked with water. Why? Because it's raining. Can I stop the rain....
...after considering I think I can not. Do I want the water there? Is it a problem? Is there something I can do about it?

Can I improve drainage?...How?
