Someone posted a pic of the USS Lincoln the carrier much in the news recently, it was rusty af, I was positive someone had photoshopped a rusty old mothballed carrier and grafted a full of planes flight deck onto it....but nope Happy Hour Hegseth is presiding over a disgraceful degradation of our fleet.

Hegseth is such an anomaly to me. Yes, he did serve in Iraq and Afghanistan and I give him total props for that, but does he have to come across as a douchenozzle? Can't politeness be a part of him?

He was technically in a war zone. but to my understanding was never under fire in combat. Infantry Officers typically make Major at 10-12 years. Hegseth was retired at 23 years as a Major. (I think he was probably not offered a new command after not being promoted in due time, aka kicked out, but I can't find anything that says that but it's the way the military works especially for officers, it's "up or out")

Oh I give him props for serving too, I just don't see a single thing that says "Candidate for a Senior Cabinet Post" in his background. There are plenty of guys(Armchair Commandos) who never served at all yet feel qualified to pass judgement on those who did serve on where, what or how they served. In my and most all veterans estimation, if you worked in the galley or in supply you were part of the team. Only about 1% of the military are actual grunts.
