Everything lasts longer in mild weather than extreme climates.
I suppose that's why a 'California-aged' car is so desireable and the owners make a point of that in the Buy and Sell ads.

I noticed cars from there seem to last longer, were easier to fix & the mileage on the odometers tended to be higher than cold climates.

Cars in Florida were usually in good shape too.

Look hoebag, I've got 2 kids in Florida and the tax burden on them is at least 15% less there AND my son in law makes more money in a Florida Hospital than in Illinois. Meanwhile, just in state income tax, I've paid 7K so far this year. ALL that money would have been mine still if I were in Florida.

...also costs less money to maintain a state which has warm weather all year round - such as repairing the roads (ie potholes), buildings, infrastructure. That is one big advantage to living in a state with a colder climate. Same thing in Canada. Mild west coast weather, easier and less costly to maintain and upgrade buildings and facilities than extreme weather of Central Canada.

I can’t tell you how much damage I did to my vehicles when I lived in St. Louis and in Seattle.

the one thing you have to be careful with is the saltwater damage for cars stored close to the beach areas… but for the most part we don’t have salt or hail damage lol

My family came to California in 1946. My grandfather started an aerospace company that is still in business to this day. But if you think this is a left v right issue you’re sadly mistaken. People have been flooding California since the 1980s. The 30 year mortgage was invented there. Real estate is pretty much the final frontier here, but it’s also going to bankrupt the working class who isn’t set to inherit property. It’s gonna get UGLY.

My moms fam moved to calli about 10 years after yours and my dads did in the early 40's. They loved it and never dreamed they'd think about leaving. My moms parents had to flee Pomona when the niggers burned up watts over a fake narrative and the Mayor of Pomona welcomed them in. My dads fam lived closer to LaVerne which niggerized later so they moved out of Pomona in the late 70's to a better area. Within 7 years of the watts riots, Pomona had become a hell hole. When I moved back out in the 80's, KTLA was doing a special report several times per week called "The Flight From California" addressing the upper middle class moving mostly to Arizona. Had cali imprisoned its trash and deported wetbacks AND elected CONservatives, it wouldnt be the disaster shithole it is today.
