Welp. Dave Chapelle is now a right wing extremist.
I love Dave, I think he he is brilliant, but I disagree with him on this, but I'm not going to go out and burn all my Dave Chappelle swag, or not watch his youtube videos.
Most adults are able to do that, disagree with someone they admire on a personal opinion.
Have you watched it for yourself?
I have mixed reactions to it, some of what he said opened my eyes, other things showed me that he's lost some perspective.
I hear what he says, and understand it biologically. It's hard to argue against it on a surface level. But I also know everybody on this forum knows or has known a guy that seems "effeminate" or some gal that seems "butch" Or have known someone that "seemed" normal till they divorced him or her and hooked up with her or him....
Is Richard Simmons as manly as Clint Eastwood?
I have met in my professional life people from all walks of life, and therefore I am aware there are gay and trans and bi etc people, and they're everywhere.
I think that the complaint from some women, I guess we're called TERF's, is that we are, suddenly, no longer the definition of what a woman is. I think it is biological.
If transgender individuals want to be considered transwomen or transmen and live their life peacefully, I agree with that. Everyone should be treated with respect.
Women, have historically, always been at the bottom. Being a woman was even worse than being a black person in this country after the Civil War. Black men got the vote before women did. Now we're no longer going to be allowed to be the definition of womanhood. I think that's wrong. It's also wrong to compete as a woman in something as brutal as MMA and beat up on biological women.
As for Dave Chappelle, he asks us, in this special to worry about the cancel culture that hits at celebrities. Well, I'm not into cancelling anyone. However, don't ask me to feel sorry for Kevin Hart because of the Oscars brouhaha. Kevin is doing okay for himself. Or any other celebrity.
If you're in the public eye, you should keep your opinion to yourself, OR, consequently, be prepared to be confronted if you make controversial comments. Don't clutch those pearls, most of us can't afford them.
