The embargo is there because the communist dictatorship is evil and literally murders people and violates human rights on a daily basis. BLM, in its post of support for the communist dictatorship and against the protesters demanding freedom, claimed stupidly claimed "Cubans have a right to determine theor own government" but there are no elections in a dictatorship. The only way they can do that is to overthrow the communist system and its dictator.

This is crap. I saw the news last week. They've run out of food and vioting about that. The covid has affected them too.... they're not murdering people and violating human rights on a weekly bases... American tourists are welcomed there now.

Bull shit. They literally had police doing mass shootings and public executions in the streets this very week.

Really? I will wait until our media report it before I believe it.... And if it did happen like you say I am sure it would have been protesters doing illegal stuff inwhich case they deserve shooting.

The "illegal stuff" was protesting the government, demanding freedom, and for the dictatorship to end.

It turns out totalitarian dictatorships don't like people saying they want freedom.

no, the Guardian newspaper I read said, ones who were vandalizing houses were targeted.

The Gaurdian is a left wing pro communism source.

So careful with them. They've spewed a lot of propaganda.

I'm not scared of communism like Americans are. I'm scared of organized crime, serial killers, homosexual getting their hands on kids... cultures that suppress women and children's rights. Government leaders with secret Swiss Bank accounts.

I'd go live in a place like Cuba and KNOW I'd be safer there than many parts of the USA...

American isnt dangerous, Cas. As long as you are not out in inner cities......you are safe.

I'm never going to forget how well Castro treated Susie Maroney... look that up.

I mean......he was a brutal dictator. Maybe he liked blondes. Maybe shes lying to spread some propaganda.

Who knows lol. I trust nothing that comes from communists countries.....except defectors.

Susy Moroney an Australian girl with cerebral pulsy swam from Florida to Cuba... she isn't lying about meeting Castro and having dinner with him... it's all documented by photo, film and journalists.

Another time I saw Castro say he deeply regretted murdering homosexuals when he was a younger man...

Way back in 1963, my mum was being induced with the 4th sibling when President Kenedy was shot and everyone globally were shitting themselves over the Cuban crisis... Sibling 4 was named Jacqualine...actually I can't remember how to spell her name... we call her Jackie...

Cuba is not in a part of the world that concerns us in Australia but a few years back, on our ABC there was GREAT documentary on the place and its history.... many citizens were interviewed discussing the pros and cons of being Cuban Citizens under communism and why the Island became a communist country in the first place.

It's not a bad place... I would LOVE to go tour it. If you can, try and watch balanced documentaries... obviously things there has worsened with covid...so that is out of the question now.

I think it's dangerous to listen to defecters as if you think they wouldn't lie... Sure, in the very early days, some would have run for their lives like the homosexuals, artists...crooks with money they stole off humble workers.... but there is an absolute beauty to that place...

If their current leader is just another arsehole sucking the place dry, protesting obviously is the right of the people BUT if they think they are going to get away vandalizing homes like a BLM event, they're seriously mistaken.

Cuba might be a good place to retire to.

It's a lot better than many countries in Latin America where vacationers have been assaulted or murdered.

Many countries such as Mexico are not that safe.

One of my friend's son got his face carved up with a swtichblade in Argentina.

At least from tourists I've spoken with, Cuba is safe.

Perhaps one of the few truly safe countries to visit there.

At least I haven't heard about tourists getting robbed, raped, beaten up or killed there.

Tourists in the US also get murdered, robbed, etc. The US is not safer than a lot of those countries.

Portugal is the 3rd safest country in the world. The US is in the 100s somewhere in safety worldwide.

I've lived in Michigan most of my life in the Metro Detroit area.... I'm not dead.

In fact the only people I know and know of who have endured a violent crime like that were actively out on the streets in inner city areas involved in drugs.

My daughter went to Cuba when they opened it for tourists and she was blown away. She said children play in the streets, they don’t have cell phones and it’s generally friendly.

I am sure that is true. It is also true that communism has created sole crushing poverty where even a young doctor only makes $18 per month and is so poor she is forced to work as a prostitute fucking foreign tourists for cash just to feed her family.

So look deeper than just the surface. You will learn more. But at least the secret police lock everyone up who farts the wrong way. Of course, living in a totalitarian system has its own problems.

The couple of documentaries I saw were really good. Always look in the background, for the clean tidy streets, the well fed people, their tidy dress and then you will see if the society is working or not.

The people she photographed looked genuinely happy… there was more of a sense of community since the outside world had been blocked out for so long. It’s a shame they opened it.

There is actually a fairly large problem with tourists getting robbed in Cuba. The reason is you can't use an ATM or credit card so tourists have to carry cash. All the cash they will need for their entire trip. Yes, the police state will try to arrest thieves because tourism is one of the few ways the co.munist regime has to bring in hard cash but you are still around extremely poor people who know the tourists are carrying thousands in cash.

My daughter was pickpocketed in Paris, France… this was after she was warned and equipped (by me) with a necklace/pouch for her valuables that she conveniently forgot. She called daddy and he wired her money… cause he’s a sucker lol

I would think this is better than the huge divide that a society based on materialism creates… which makes room for bullies, etc with children.

You might be right there... They might want the tourist dollar but 25% of the tourists might go there on sex tours. I say that because years ago I saw an Oprah show about American men being responsible for 25% of sex crimes overseas.

Americans make a huge mistake going to places where there are poor people, flashing their wealth..

When you travel to places like that, dress DOWN and NO JEWELRY, not even costume jewelry.

Most of the tourists seem to be from Canada and the EU with a few Russians and Latin Americans.

My dad's old girlfriend (around ten years ago) was born in Italy but raised in Canada and the US. She speaks perfect Italian as her parents would only speak Italian at home. Anyway, she was visiting Italy and the taxi driver was talking on his cellphone telling whoever that he was going to over charge this stupid American bitch because A.ericans are so dumb. She told him in perfect Italian to pull over the car this second, got out, and refused to pay the guy. He tried to demand an exorbitant amount of money but even old Italian grandmothers came out and started calling the taxi driver a thief and an asshole.

Sounds typical for a very poor country. In Merica, chances are you might find your self within a mass shooting, or worse. Or simply run across some gun freak who’s happy to blow your head off.

As of May 2021, California had the most mass shootings in the United States, with 22 total shootings since 1982.

So 22 events over a 40 year period among almost 50 million people. So, yeah, you definitely were exaggerating how common these extremely uncommon events are according to your own data.
