Biden hates Cubans (because they don't vote for Democrats).

Given that we now know the communists had working nukes on Cuba with orders to fire them if invaded... It is better that we didn't. At least not because of the Cuban missile crisis. Now, if Eisenhower had invaded in 1959 then that could have been done cleanly.

Kruschev said he could have fired the nukes at the US.

And he came close with that showdown between himself and Kennedy.

But he didn't because he feared it would be the end of civilization.

So he backed down.

I just said that. Did you read it?

In 1958 to 1959 the USSR wasn't supporting Castro so, yes, Eisenhower could have but he didn't care. After 1961? Yes, it would have been nuclear war.

The other funny shit is watching Biden, the Democrats, and the MSM are claiming the protesters in Cuba are just upset about not having enough covid vaccines. The people are screaming "freedom" and "death to the dictator" not "we want covid shots". Dems are so far off their rocker they lying and defending violent, brutal communist dictatorships because they are fellow travelers with the communists.

not enough Covid vaccines?

In a communist country that provides free healthcare in exchange for tyranny?

surely you jest

Maybe Eisenhower thought that Castro either might not last or he would eventually come over the American side.

Somehow I don't think that Castro's government was initially Communist when they came to power in 1959.

And he tried to present himself as a moderate in an attempt to appease Eisenhower and the United States.

But as his ties with the USSR strengthened, he eventually identified himself as Communist.

No, they were much like your modern AOCs and Sanders of the world promising some fancy spin like "democratic socialism" until they consolidated power

Communism has been a mixed bag for Cuba.

some of it Good. Some of it Bad.

But at least it managed to elevate the living standards of Cubans so they weren't starving to death.

And the communists provided them education and decent healthcare.

But there are no free elections nor a multiparty system.

Freedom of sepeech and expression is limied.

Same time, what they had before was a Right Wing Dcitatorship beholden to beholden to US corporate interests.

While what they have today is a left wing dictatorship.

Still, the lot of the aveerage Cuban is much better than it was 70 years ago.

What they have now is bad enough to make them revolt and fight it.

It's clearly miserable like what refugees say.

But obviously it couldn't have been that good before the communists.

Otherwise they wouldn't have fought so hard to get rid of the previous regime.

It was absolutely horrible under Battista. The people who left were all rich, because they didn't want to lose money or power. It is far from perfect now, but one of the things that has fucked Cuba was the US embargo. This abject fear of communism on the part of the USA is ridiculous.

We have a communist party in Portugal. They don't scare anyone. They are allowed to express their opinions and participate in government without people stroking out over it. People should not try so hard to outlaw and eradicate opposing philosophies.

When the opposing "philosophy" declares it wants to create a dictatorship and imprison all of its opponents then they should be outlawed.

For 2 political parties which don't differ all the much in the way they govern, people in the US sure squabble a lot over so little, don't they?

We shouldnt try to eradicate a "philosophy" that wants to oppress and imprison us.....lol

"Guys.....stop being so oppressive of people who fight to oppress you!"
