FUCK YEAH!!!

ALL Parents should be like this!!!!

Please, Log in or Register to view URLs content!

That's what its come to in so many places. Completely nonsensical mask requirements and teachers mistreating kids over it.

In CA they took kids outside so they could take their masks off and there was fire in the area so kids were breathing in THAT. Which IS an established health hazard.

Just thought folks like @Lily and @Murdock and @LotusBud might want to see this.....

Some of us were raised right....

That's sweet, and maybe true of many people who are into the Confederacy, but that doesn't change the fact that the whole history of the Confederate flag is charged with grief and violence and despair for many, many people.

Southerners do good deeds all the time, as we always have. Ya cant let a handful of folks sully the name of us good folk.

I also beg to differ, that if the Lincoln would of obeyed the Constitution, and let the South secede, the other states would not of even joined the South, nor would there have been a war. All the South wanted was to be left alone. As we still do. Yet our ancestors are being villainized, instead of honored as they should be.

Well, since you have nothing to add, I'll simply say read what I wrote to Lotus.

That flag continues to cause a lot of pain to a lot of folks. You have all the rights under the 1st amendment to fly it. I can't quibble with that.

But what of common decency and respect for those people that it does hurt?

That flag means a lot of things to a lot people. Why cant those with hate towards it, not have some understanding that "hey! This guy might be a good guy!".

Sure, there are some hateful groups that fly it, but they are the minority, and us true Southerners despise those kinds of folks.

Because their ancestors were slaves and the weight of history lands on their shoulders. And maybe if we want great communities, we need to build community first.

You have another flag available that might be used by all Americans. Why not choose it? The one that represents all Americans and not just some?

I don't get that, I really don't.

Mind you, my ancestors weren't slaves either, so maybe they see it a bit differently.

I'm just inclined to see it as a piece of History, nothing more.

BTW, the French in Quebec have a flag similar in Spirit to the Dixie Flag:

98975740-c322-469b-9fe0-d603876f072d.png

It was derived form the pre-revolutionary Monarchy of the French Kings:

fd155a90-2f06-454e-9d33-efa9d79687be.png

It is considered an integral part of French Canadian identity.

However, unlike the US South, slavery was never abolished in New France.

In fact, it existed into the early part of the 19th century tho it was waning as an institution by then even after the English conquered New France - which is modern day Quebec.

It was the British who finally did away with slavery there and the French were more than eager to hang onto their slaves.

so a person could advance a similar argument, that the current Flag of Quebec represents Slavery and should also be torn down.

You could find oppression in any every national symbol, flag and go woke about it.

...and the Great Taj mahal in India? Don't forget, that was built with Slave Labor.

so were the pyramids of Egypt. Egyptians have told me that their slave ancestors built those tings.

I see that you dont get it, its ok, Im here to educate you :Happy5:

The Battle Flag of Northern Virginia, that most folks like yourself like to call the Confederate Flag, only flew for 4 years if that. It was adopted from the Tennessee Battle Flag. Mostly because the original Confederate Flag looked too much like the actual American Flag.

Anyway, it only flew for 4 years. Slavery was around much longer before that. Slaves arrived in Yankee ports, and were sold to the South. If anything, I would think more folks would be angry about THAT flag, instead of one that flew for 4 years.

Martin Luther King Jr., even said himself not to tear down monuments and flags. To leave them alone if we wanted to come together, or else it would cause division.

To a lot us, and I mean a LOT of us, that flag has nothing to do with slavery one bit. It has to do with our ancestors fighting for their families, lives and homeland.

If you check out my history thread, I recently pointed out how that war wasnt even started over freeing the slaves.

Yes, except yours was the flag of slavery and is the flag of despotism.

It was derived form the pre-revolutionary Monarchy of the French Kings:

It is considered an integral part of French Canadian identity.

However, unlike the US South, slavery was never abolished in New France.

In fact, it existed into the early part of the 19th century tho it was waning as an institution by then.

Still, you could advance a similar argument, that the current Flag of Quebec represents Slavery and should also be torn down.

You could find oppression in any every national symbol, flag and go woke about it.

...and the Great Taj mahal in India? Don't forget, that was built with Slave Labor.

so were the pyramids of Egypt. Egyptians have told me that their slave ancestors built those tings.

Just thought folks like @Lily and @Murdock and @LotusBud might want to see this.....

That's sweet, and maybe true of many people who are into the Confederacy, but that doesn't change the fact that the whole history of the Confederate flag is charged with grief and violence and despair for many, many people.

I have nothing else to add to that. It's brief and to the point.

Well, since you have nothing to add, I'll simply say read what I wrote to Lotus.

A lot of us are good people. You've told me of some past stuff, and I just wanted to show you some proof that a lot of us were raised right.

I'm not sure what you mean by "You've told me of some past stuff."

That flag continues to cause a lot of pain to a lot of folks. You have all the rights under the 1st amendment to fly it. I can't quibble with that.

But what of common decency and respect for those people that it does hurt?

You told me about "Southerners" being mean to you or some shit long ago. Prolly just a group of assholes.

I am not able to get you to see another point of view and vice-versa. Oh well.

However, the American flag that I fly for specific holidays and remembrances doesn't hurt anyone that's a patriot.

Oh, I see the other point of view, but I also know it was orchestrated to make them feel that way by the Media Masters. Thus, I would rather my point of view be seen too, since its the one thats the most censored.

Yes, except yours was the flag of slavery and is the flag of despotism.

My flag is MORE Patriotic!

:WTF6: :WTF6: :WTF6:

:Confederacy::Confederacy::Confederacy::Confederacy::Confederacy::Confederacy::Confederacy:

Sorry, blacks have hated that flag long before the media made it a topic of discussion.

No, my country's flag is the one that has represented a lot of terrible things, but always forged ahead to evolve to always reach for a "more perfect union".

Slavery is illegal, right? Why is that? You tell me.

That Flag, the Bars & Stars doesn't bother me at all.

Mind you, my ancestors weren't slaves either, so maybe they see it a bit differently.

I'm just inclined to see it as a piece of History, nothing more.

They hated it, because they were manipulated to hate it, even way back when.

Not all though, not all. A lot still know the truth.

There is a LOT of history around slavery, and about how and when they actually got freed. Their "freedom" came at a great cost though, to themselves. Millions died of starvation and homelessness with nowhere to go or anything.

The South wanted to end slavery gradually. So that slaves could take care of themselves on their own with an education, and so the owners didnt take such a hit in the pocket either.

Again, you have to remember the North had slaves too, and all the slaves came from the North.

And the Corwin Amendment, the original 13th, dont forget that one either.

Yes, it was all one country before the South tried to secede. DERP.

What flag represented the government that ended slavery everywhere in the US, dipshit?

It was the North that ended it with the passage of the 13th Amendment before the end of the Civil War.

FACT

Actually, the 13th amendment wasnt ratified til AFTER the war.

Now, tell me about the NORTH wanting to pass the original 13th amendment...... making slavery legal forever.

Those people should put some genuine effort into understanding what it means for other people. Communication is really lacking in the country and there is no path to unity without mutual understanding.

For the people whose history is in the confederacy..... it doesnt mean what the people who hate the confederacy think it means.

I lived in the deep dirty south for nearly 5 years and the history of the civil war is told differently down there than in it is in the north.

Usually when you have one side with one narrative and another side with a different narrative.....the most truth is probably in the middle.

I dont think it's all together fair to see people with Confederate shirts or flags and judge them based on the standards of the opposing side of it. We should extend more grace to others and work to understand them before making harsh judgements. Down south you'll see black people with Confederate stuff.

Jmo.

The source I had quoted January 31, 1865...that was before the end of the war. It could be a mistake on the part of the website.

Nevertheless, it was ratified by those opposed to slavery. The south had lost the war and had no choice.
