I've noticed that the leniency shown towards criminals in New York seems to encourage them to become repeat offenders.

Whereas in Florida they seem much harsher on them.

I was driving down to beautiful Key West once & I saw this prison chain gang on the highway. They really make em do hard time in the South.

That chain gang consists of prison volunteers. They aren't actually forced to work. Gives them the opportunity to get away from prison for a few hours...

I'm not sure if it does. I think they mainly volunteer just to get away from prison so they can spend some time in the sunshine picking up trash or whatever for a few hours.

Hell, I'd probably volunteer also just to get away from the cold concrete prison walls for the day.

Our history in this country is the sum of all the good and bad and while I'm not a fan of the confederacy and/or slavery or racism of any kind people have the right to like what they like in areas where others can simply avoid the scenery
