However the current energy sources aren't sufficient to power America's economic engine. The US still hasn't transitioned away from traditional energy sources to make that leap to alternative Energy. For that matter neither has Canada. We're not like Norway or Iceland which are now using 80% alternative sources to power their economies. That was a major flaw of the Biden administration. To think they could leap into this brave new world overnight. Plus the cost is very high and more taxes are necessary to support it which most Americans are averse to.

And one of the biggest problems is they greenWASH. The shit they yammer for isnt actually better for the environment.

It's way more politcal than truly eco conscious.

Keep in mind the people who think they wanna clean the earth. They live in populated cities. They are Consumers who buy clothes NEW, buy products from companies with bad eco practices. They dont actually learn about the issues. They drink bottles water. They use tons of plastic. They dont actuall DO anything in their lifestyle that shows they genuinely care.

When people know who Greta Thornburg is but never heard of Boyan Slat? They are just partisan snobs who wanna feel superior to others.

When they fight against proper forest management like raking and controlled burns? Full of shit.

I’m in greater Los Angeles aka Santa Monica. Rolling blackouts and drought has been an issue here since I can remember… especially during the summer months when the temp goes into the high 90s and people are running fans and air conditioners full blast.

Most of my friends have solar. We are installing solar here as soon as we can decide on a roof. My area supports 90%+ reimbursement of the cost advanced for that upgrade.

The biggest overhead expense any of my friends have out here is filling their pool, which you don’t hear “Olympic size” out here unless it’s at a 5 star resort. A pool requires more water and chemicals than anyone would think… so it’s not something I’ll be putting in. We are considering a dunk pool to avoid a full reconveyance on property tax that would be required with a permit pulled for a full blown swimming pool. Also, I’m so close to the beach that we don’t really need it…. So economical is going to win over luxury everyday of the week for me.

I know this veered a little off topic, but energy and efficiency is going to be a greater issue here in the US the more we see people moving to the less desirable areas now that the cost of living is skyrocketing even more post pandemic. Those boondocks areas typically require central air and heat year round.

I am more of a minimalist who has learned to shut her entire house down during the summer days and then opening the bedroom windows at night and using box fans to keep the house cool. I also do not run household appliances during peak hours.

When we have the menstrual cups and the reusable menstrual underwear. There are also reusable pads.

They work very well, create NO waste, do not cost money every month, and are healthier for your body. We have been using them for 3 years now and will never go back to disposable.

The "tree huggers" here who are "part of the solution" are probably using disposable menstrual products that even have chemicals in them. In that jelly shit that's put in them.

And we use a bidet along with unbleached bamboo TP. We use biodegradable rags that can be composted and reusable paper towel for cleaning and such.

A lot of little steps to actually become part of the solution. Start criticizing your lifestyle and the products you use. If you still buy a new container of laundry detergent every month you are literally filling landfills with plastic. Find a low waste laundry company (that's local) or start making your own laundry stuff.

Dont be blathering about policies that make energy costs grossly high for poor people if you are not even willing to cut down your own garbage production and still use plastic everything.

Like in FL. They dont give a single shit about the education of other peoples kids. They just want to smear and slam "teh right" and media gave them their "ammo". Not a single one of them actually read the bill.

That's about how much they genuinely care about the country and other people. They dont. I dont believe they care about Ukraine either. It's all virtue signaling and appearances.

Cumbersome and pricey at first yep.....but it's always worth it and can always be done. Sometimes it actually saves money. And the things that cost more upfront will save money in the long run.

You can learn the most by watching peoples channels who have gone off grid.

Yeah, every situation needs to be looked at independently. In most cases there are a number of things that can be done easily and affordably. To just dismiss and say "It will probably be cumbersome and expensive" is just lazy thinking.
