Americans have all these lucrative obscure markets which aren't necessarily popular in other countries

I've inadvertently collected dozens of worthless crypto currencies.... but they might be worth something one day.... I never would have believed XRP would emerge strongly though.... or that governments may be moving to confiscate ripple in private hands (exchanges)... they won't find mine.

but if you sell them to American collectors in the US they can fetch a high price

as far as collecting goes the US is the center of the collecting universe

Comics are fun. I'm trying to unload my first edition spider man treasury hardback. 1st 39 ditko issues of spiderman plus amazing fantasy 15 and a couple other gems

I found a box of old papers someone had thrown out. They were old mortgages and stuff that were drawn up back in Civil War days. Back then all civil contracts had to have a Revenue Stamp on them.

I paid 50 for it in 1999, I think I can get 400 if I do it right.

I had one mortgage document from 1864 that had first issue Revenue Stamps on them. I sold that single document for just under $7k.

Apparently the stamps are worth more if they are still affixed to the original documents.

I got my youngest to put all the unwrapped plastic Pixar or whatever tokens from supermarket and food manufacturer promotions in a big box (think Pogs). But I don't expect them to last forever.

That's an awesome catch Reg. I had an FF 1 that I bought at a yard sale for 50 bucks. it was in fair to good and this was 1977 or so. So I had Susan Cicconi Restore it for 500 dollars. she was the curator at the Smithsonian at the time, although now she's retired. I sold that book in 2002 for a little over 30k.

Those coins and notes were worth next to nothing, Joe.... but with time, everything fetches a dollar. I got a few autographed Johnny Bench baseballs for being an events night server at a BSA fundraising dinner. And he chatted with us after, shook hands, had pictures taken. Couldn’t give those baseballs away for decades, but they're worth upwards of 200 bucks USD now.
