When I want to relax and take my mind off things, I like to watch movies from the 20th century, especially the 1990s. As someone who grew up in this magical decade, immersing myself in 90s nostalgia is like a balm to my soul. I mean, everything about the 90s was better. Fun things were fun. Cool things were cool. And, in my opinion, society was just saner and happier.

As a 90’s child, I terribly miss those days. I grew watching action films featuring men looking like men, Cartoon Network ”politically incorrect” cartoons – does anyone remember Tex Avery’s Droopy and its now banned depiction of Southern people? – and listening to whatever band which was aired. Entertainment was that, just entertainment and didn’ t give it much more importance than it haf. Not everything had to convey a message. The most popular shows of the 90s could never be aired today… What about school? Back then we were taught Maths, Literature, History, Geography, etc. No trace of propaganda or brainwashing of any sort. Teachers were respected, as well as parents. Upon a single look

Upon a single look of disapproval from your parents or teachers, one would feel ashamed if did something wrong. Since until early 2000s, most people didn’t have Internet back home nor gadgets, so our free time was spent with friends, playing outside. Going out with your friends meant you engaged in conversation, laugh, interaction in general. Even if a few of us had a rudimentary cellphone, we wouldn’t even keep them on the table. The custom of taking pictures of the food or drink before consuming them, is something I still don’t get to this day.

As times have gradually changed intelectually, socially and morally for worse; the pre pandemic life has come to an abrupt end in a matter of, that’s upon each individual, days, weeks or months.
