Wow. If there's actually another "intelligent" species that's doing the shit we do on the internet, there is no hope for the universe.
I think it's pure human neediness that causes us to insist that extrasolar civilizations "must" be more advanced than ours. I think the probability of extrasolar civilizations is non-zero, but a good many of them are the equivalent of alien trailer parks with three-armed two-headed rednecks living in them.

Sure, there are probably more advanced civilizations, too. Avoiding all the white purple trash.

I know little about Buddhism beyond what falls under common knowledge. The part about accepting human suffering as part of life, which it is, clashes with my belief in more just societies.

Seems like a message that is a thread in several major religions. That kind of message works for those in power, doesn't it?
No. I don't believe that means to accept human suffering that is caused by injustice. Obviously, I am not a person who believes in that. I never have and I never will. I believe it means you have to learn to accept the facts of sorrow -- like everyone dies, and it fucking hurts when someone you love dies. Or, like the fact that once someone has died, you can't do anything to change it. Or when your love leaves you. Buddhism is incredibly helpful in navigating things like that.

Also, compassion is a key tenet of Buddhism. If exploiters develop compassion, they'll stop exploiting. That's how I see it, anyway.

Anyway, most New Age people I've ever known are far from being Buddhists.

And yet there are all these sightings recorded even by reasonably credible sources such as the US Air Force @Courier 6 .

Similar sightings have been documented and captured on video by air force pilots elsewhere

After a while these sightings have become so numerous & their descriptions bear a striking similarity that it becomes difficult to dismiss them.

There's a term for the thought process that goes, "I don't know what that is, so it's <insert preferred conclusion>."

Literally hundreds of reliable sources. They are not all crazy.

According to the lunatics at NASA

Our definition of habitable environments continues to expand. Off the Earth we’ve only begun to look. NASA has sent five rovers and four landers to the surface of Mars. Additionally, orbiters have been outfitted with some amazing cameras to take pictures of the whole surface of the Red Planet. But we’ve only explored a tiny fraction of Mars. And that’s only one of the promising bodies to look for life in our solar system.

There are icy moons in the outer solar system like Saturn’s moon Enceladus and Jupiter’s moon Europa that look like they may have subsurface oceans that could be habitable. And that’s just what’s in our solar system. The more exoplanets we find around other stars, the more we learn about how many different environments could exist for life.

We can’t yet say for sure whether or not aliens exist. To quote Carl Sagan: “The universe is a pretty big place. If it’s just us, it seems like an awful waste of space.” So, NASA will keep looking.
