I listened to a podcast about this recently and it sounds like the young eat them in such a way as to keep them alive as long as possible too. I guess bugs don’t have refrigerators so they have to get creative on food preservation.

Yes they eat all the non essential organs first, I honestly don't really get the point of this though. Is the matter they consume somehow more beneficial because the subject is still alive? Like why would you keep a cow alive and cut steaks off one by one?
