Senile Joe is just now reading about the camera he bought yesterday.
...you got that right Lex @The Prowler!

I know next nothing about cameras. Doodly squat.

This is the first 'real camera' I have ever owned...Lex!

And probably the last too!

From what I've read/heard, it's not a very easy camera ta use.

It's not at all out of the box 'user friendly'....which is why I suspect it was on sale.

Because the average user wasn't buying it.

So it jes sat on the shelves of this camera store fer years!

That being said...having learned things like AutoCAD, REVIT, I'm sure I could learn to operate that camera.

Actually the reason I wanted a camera like that was to use the footage for stuff like VFX. - Visual special Effects.

Just try it out as a hobby.

Trouble is, ya can't really make any VFX without some video or footage. eg-

It'd be like making a movie with just props but no actors.

Ya gotta have something to input the software with.

VFX doesn't stand up on its own alone. Otherwise, it's just a software package without any source footage.

I thought it was on sale.
Yes it was, Lex @The Prowler.

Total bill was just under $4400 for the camera, a lense and 3 year warranty coverage including sales taxes.

Maybe $3100 US dollars?

But the REGULAR Price? would have been...$4500 for the Camera + $900 Lense+$500 extended warranty.

so how much is that? $5900 x 12% sales tax = approx $6500.

so, buying it on sale was a savings of over $2000.

Here's a store in my area that's asking full price, no discount just the body, no extended warranty no lense included:

Please, Log in or Register to view URLs content!

or Amazon, wants slight less:

Please, Log in or Register to view URLs content!

Still over $4000

So after taxes, buying a few extras, they've both at least $6000 or more ($4200-4500 USD)

Well Lex @The Prowler I added up the costs/amount I spent on a camera, a high end workstation & vfx software and it comes out to the cost a new small car. Originally/initially I thought I was gonna do this as a hobby, but since I sunk so much money into it, now I feel obligated to make a buck offa the equipment. They simply cost too much to sit around as toys or playthings eh.

Anyways I never intended to spend this much, and I kinda regret it, but since I did, I'd better at try ta make this equipment pay for itself.

Didn't buy any of it on credit /debt but still they're so damn expensive that I'd better make them worthwhile & recover their cost, eh.

since I've gone this far spent thus much, better go all in.

Oh well.

I thought you said it cost a shitload of money.
Well I think that's a lot.

Actually Lex @The Prowler, that was the cheapest item on the list of things I bought.

The computer cost me $4000 plus $2700 for a CPU upgrade. And that computer was actually a bargain, because it came with 2 high end AMD 12 GB VRAM video cards. Then add more storage, enhancements probably another $800, so that's around $7500 fpr the pc.

then the VFX software was maybe $10,000? and it was like kinda special software cuz it was the last permanent license software available of Nuke, Katana, Mari, Modo & ZBrush. Adobe Master Collection Professional grade software they use for Special Effects in Hollywood movies. Plus I got them at a 70% discount. But Ya can't get those anymore except as subscription software .Cost me a lot, but given they are no longer available, I guess they were a bargain, eh? Cuz subscription software costs the buyer an arm and a leg now. The 'new and improved stuff' enhanced by AI costs more than what the permanent software used to. At least twice as much

so my total bill for this 'hobby' as an entry level enthusiast cost at least $22,000 Canadian dollars or about $15000 US.

That's as much as a new small car ffs.

So...you can see, since I spent so much for this 'hobby' I should probably make it into some kind of side hustle or business.

Perhaps it's a drop in the bucket fer you, but it's a lot fer me, Prowler.

Yeah, I spend that much when I go to the strip club almost every Saturday.
Well Lex @TheProwler it's supposed ta get even worse next year in 2026.

So anything you want badly, maybe get it now.

$4000 Hollywood grade cameras will soon become a thing of the past.

They''ll probably be 2 or 3 times as much in the near future.

Or any other high end item ya can think as inflation is supposed ta start ripping through the economy by next year.

so don't be surprised what next year brings ta yer wallet eh?

Don't say I didn't warn ya Prowler!

What do you mean "worse"?

Worse than what?
Everything will get worse due to inflation.

That is the cost of everything.

Not even my prediction, but the most Right Wing pro Trump supporters have said this.

so if they admit it, there must be some truth to it.

Hahaha!!

So go bitch about it with Senile Joe.

Not with me.

I planned my finances properly so I am prepared for inflationary periods. I am prepared for ongoing inflation.

So now Senile Joe and slavesplither can have a Pity Party because they did not understand how to control their own lives.

One thing I'm gonna do is get outta US stocks soon Lex @The Prowler

Tried to sell some the other day, and the system blocked me from doing it

I sense if economic trouble is coming, it'll be harder if not impossible to get yer money out of the States.

Canadian stocks, no problem, I just pressed the SELL button, got the money out.

But the American stocks make you go through a lotta hoops just to sell

Seems buying American is a one way door going in, but they don't letcha out

They take yer money and but don't make it easy to take it out

After that experience I think I'm gonna stick to Canadian or some other foreign stocks instead.

I won't buy anything on the NYSE anymore

I keep hearing there's gonna be Stock Market Crash soon. So if it happens I don't wanna be invested US stocks, eh?

What ass backwards broker are you using?

I sell American stock within seconds, just like Canadian.

What parameters did you put in the sell order?
Questrade.

But I think I set the parameters incorrectly. I inadvertently selected Limit when I should have chosen the market option to sell. will try again on Monday

Nonetheless I'd rather get my money out of a US stock exchange since many of those companies trade on the TSX. I should have bought that stock on the TSX to begin with.

There's too much hanky panky goin on in the States. too much corruption. especially these days.

Anyway i sold 90% of my energy stocks but kept most of the gold and mining stocks Prowler.

But I didn't completely sell the energy stocks since there might be a time to buy back in. Stay invested 10%.

I think its wise to have at least some money invested in energy stocks eh?

Prowler logic, YUGE IQ shit:

Being honest about prices going up and it being a bad thing: not in control of your own life.

Claiming that it's a good thing because Trump tells you it's a good thing: master and commander of your own destiny.

Lol

Dumb fuck.

I'd be the opposite. Started with a pcjr fully loaded for my first computer and just have grown to the current beast I have. Had every game system produced in america at one time or another.

AI is useful, but not as a replacement for your own original artisitic thought. I guess if you have no artistic ability to begin with it can be satisfying to see what you think become a visible rendition.
It can be an incredibly powerful tool for translating idea to image. But you still have to have the idea -- and the coding skills to get the software to translate it acceptably. Prompt engineering is more like coding than normal writing.
Same with ChatGPT. Seems like you have to feed it your creativity to get some "glamorous" response. I can spot a GPT script a mile away. Mostly because it's sterile and boring.
Yeah, AI is shit for writing; all it does is echo what you tell it, slightly reworded, anyway. Spend a minute with Gemini or Duck.AI, and they'll just repeat whatever you tell them. Copilot is even more nauseatingly ass-kissing than that. Between that and their still constant proclivity for hallucination, they're absolutely useless for most purposes.
