I lived in southern Onterrible when I was a kid and one time we went to the Detroit zoo for a school trip.
The zoo was nice but the city was a shithole,a very dirty disgusting shithole.
This was a long time ago and I'm sure they cleaned it up some by now.:Grin3:

They've done some revitalization, but for the most part it is still a shithole.. Even by the Casinos, you take the risk of getting robbed when you leave. The corruption is still horrible....Slow response from police... City services suck ass and the schools are bad. Still a lot of blight and criminal activity (which sadly has spilled into the burbs) since there is slim pickings in the city lol.. I try not to go there often.. When I do visit the casinos, I park in the garage and I'm in and out.. no walking around because of safety. So? Yeah.. They've built a few nice buildings, but just outside of the perimeter .. you pretty much have blight.
There was a story on the news a couple of years ago where they built all of these beautiful apartments.. and within a couple of years.. People were pissing in the hallways... So, you can build all you want, but if people don't take pride where they live.. It just won't matter :/

We also went to Bob-Lo island a few times. For those that don't know it was a fun amusement park on an island in the middle of the Detroit river accessible by boat only.
There was a guy on the old CJ forums called Mr.O and he told me that they closed that place up due to all the crime commited by the Detroit thugs going there.
There's always some group fucking things up for everyone else.
