Canadians are not being allowed over the border currently

We have friends that live in Canada that have a home in our town. They usually come in on thursday and go back on a sunday and live in the area for a couple weeks of every month. They are Canadian citizens. They left Sunday, and were blocked at the border from coming back to US. It was Homeland Security that blocked them and sent them back.

Their explanation was that they had used up their "days alotted" for this year and would not be allowed into the country for the forseeable future.

This is the first time that this has ever happened, and they've been doing this for a couple decades.

I don't either. It's an obscure rule they are enforcing to keep Canadians out currently. They pulled all the Canadian cars out of the line at the border. They took their "Nexus" pass away from them and destroyed it. They went back 15 years over their entry and exit dates and told them they had used up "all their alotted time for the year based on prior times here" and denied them entry.

At least before Trump became President again, the rule was that a Canadian couldn't spend more than 6 months in the United States without a visa.

Did your friends exceed their 6 month stay limit?

It's a problem for Canadian property owners.

They're allowed to stay for half the year, but if they reach that limit, they have to stay home until the year is up.

I guess Trump & co decided to enforce those regultations to the tee.

That's why I never applied for a Nexus Card.

It's just another way for the US Government to track people.

When Canadians apply for them, they have to submit biometric data such as their eye and face scans

Maybe their fingerprints too?

I bet the US guv has more information about Canadians than their own government.

I don't think the US government does that to their own citizens....yet.
