Never been on a cruise because they sound like a terrible way to spend time. Just surrounded by people. Yuck.

It is nice for 7 days.

You wake up...

have a nice breakfast that is prepared for you....

go on an excursion which can be anything from visiting a historical site to snorkelling to shopping to <whatever you want>...

get back on the boat and relax until dinner...

meals are prepared with fresh ingredients that they acquire from wherever they are docked, and you will see several dishes that represent the local cuisine, along with a long list of other choices, all prepared as you expect at a high-end restaurant...

then you have a choice of entertainment, including musical ensembles, solo musical acts, Karaoke, comedians, night clubs with dancing, etc. etc...

then you go to sleep and start over at a different port the next day.

There is so much to do, you never have to do the same thing twice on the same cruise. Rock climbing, mini golf, exercise equipment, basketball court, swimming pools, etc. are all there for people to enjoy. You really have to be a stick-in-the-mud to not have a good time on a cruise, IMO.

And people get infected with enteric diseases very frequently.

However, to each his/her own.

Cruise ships are back. And it’s a catastrophe for the environment

Cruise ships kill whales, leak gray water, and are largely exempt from US taxation. When they violate the law, they pay the equivalent of a parking ticket.

to the Ocean Conservancy, gray water discharges “can lead to oxygen depletion, spread pathogenic bacteria and viruses and increase nutrient levels in the surrounding ecosystem. Higher nutrient levels can lead to toxic blooms and dead zones that can cause harmful disturbances throughout food chains.”

Stay out of the ocean bitch and you wont get ran over.

Cruise ships are disgusting. I think they are a perfect metaphor for the arrogance and ignorance of humankind, and the worst ways in which we have disconnected ourselves from nature and attempted to control it just because we think we can.

Cruise ships are also vessels for contagion and viruses. Aside from all those people who got sick from Covid, they've had outbreaks like that before.

It's not the cleanest way to travel.

I also noticed that when when I picked up people from the cruises they smelled and were dirty. They'd be carrying all these unwashed clothes from their trip after weeks at sea. Likely a kot of bacteria which made them susceptible to viruses. So hygiene is a problem on those ships.

They're ridiculous. Besides their horrible impact on the environment, and on the livelihoods of regular people who depend on tourism, they are a way to keep "travelers" from actually experiencing the reality of places they visit. The ship is a fantasy world. It's a traveling casino/hotel, and it is just sad that people think they are seeing the actual world when they are on one.

always the negative nelly....

What do you expect from someone who had her 16th birthday party in a library?

i lold at first then thought of it, sad

Its definately not my thing but I can see why people would enjoy it.

I have been on a number of cruises in the Caribbean. They are a lot of fun. I have crawled through bat caves in Belize and wandered around Mayan ruins in Cozumel...and done a lot of other cool shit...on cruise excursions.

They are an experience and I do not think people can accurately imagine what they are like - you gotta do it to know.

My impression is mostly older people went on cruises

Only time younger types went is with their parents to give them perhaps the last big trip of their lifetime.

I guess famlies with young kids too.

disney cruises was a big line

But it was usually seniors who went on these cruises out of Vancouver harbor on their way to alaska,
but sometimes Hawaii other times the Caribbean or Mexico.

Thing is, josephine, libtards like that gutter cunt locus want everyone driving a piece of shit commie car or better yet, a shitty bike, where the government, not private business, give you a stipend. People like that cant afford dinner let alone a cruise.

I've seen a lot of middle and upper middle classers and people who CAN afford cruises and international travel who argue for what they call "democratic socialism" here in the US.

They probably think it will make everyone more financially secure and it will not interfere with thier finances much. And they have uni degrees so you cant tell them anything. They think you are just uneducated (even when thier education is in something completely unrelated to the topic, they see themselves as more educated and more correct than you) and dont know anything about what's in your own interest.

They see other countries that are MUCH smaller, with governments no where as corrupt, where the people trust thier government, that have completely different dynamics who are getting good results(at least from an outsider pov) with these policies. So they see this and are convinced it would work out the same way here....regardless that we are vastly bigger with a government that is insanely wasteful and dishonest. Regardless that we are a completely different country.

You could kinda compare it more to like 1 of our states, if we had M4A on more a state to state basis. Already each state has it's own medical program. What leftists want to do is centralize it so its ran by the federal government, with no other options. It's scary, really.

If you cant get them to discuss all the very real possible problems with something they want and they refuse to acknowledge them and compromise, you know if it was a total nightmare they wouldnt lift a finger to try to fix it and they would be demonizing those who do.

You say that like there's something wrong with that. Of course, I guess to an illiterate like you, it seems like torture.

I suppose calling it a party is a bit of a stretch, especially considering you and your mum were the only people who attended.

Oh, spoken like a true idiot who doesn't understand that there are literally millions upon millions of people who are smarter than you and appreciate books and libraries.

Speaking of smart people

My husband just left a few minutes ago and he is taking Squish and dropping her off with her Babba for the day.

And before she leaves on Babba days we cuddle while he gets ready and watch animal video reels.

Today she asked me.....totally serious..."momma, if flies dont have wings, do we call them walks?" and I fucking died :LOL3:

Carry on.

I told her "yes" btw. Lol.

Yeah, but there are cruises and there are cruises. Are you saying you did that from one of those giant ships with thousands of passengers that leave behind a trail of destruction? Those fucking ships that finally got banned from Venice because they are literally destroying the city?

And you can stay in Airbnbs with your kid and even have access to a kitchen.

They were always ill suited to Venice. I have gone to Alaska and a couple of times in the Caribbean because it left from New York. Really it would be impossible to get such a good value anywhere else.

Why would that post confuse you? I never had a party in a library. That was your fantasy. Although now that you've brought it up, I think it would be a really cool place to have a party. There's this library in Portugal, for instance:

If you avoid the buffets you'll be fine. The restaurant style places are generally amazing. Of course checking out the human safari is in some ways part of the appeal.

You can poast on cruises too. Sit down with your beer and tell the libs all about the glorious views you are seeing. Or challenge them to fistfights on Tortola or something.

Well, the other advantage of cruising is no flights. Flying means two days of your vacation is hell.

Well, that's the joy of being in Europe. I can take a road trip to Spain or France or Morocco, and I can fly to England or Italy in less than three hours.

And how do you get to the cruise ship if you don't live in the port city? Never been on a cruise ship and never will be. A small sailboat or river boat, yes. A cruise ship, absolutely not.

You heard it here first folks, LotAss is planning her 75th birthday party bonanza at some Portuguese library.

The invitations stress "Strictly no white people".
