Hey peeps has anyone ever had a dental implant.

I broke a crown on my front tooth and the root got infected so dentist had to remove the root,so I now have no front tooth.
Been told by dentist only way to fix it is having a denture or an implant.Been told it's about £1500-£2000 for one tooth.I really don't fancy a denture so was just wondering if anyone has had this done and if it#s worth it.

Any advice is appreciated.

Not here. My teeth are nearly perfect.

But good luck with that shit. Dental is expensive and insurance is always trying to get out of paying for that shit.

Yeah I got both my front teeth knocked out when I was in my 20`s.So have had both of them crowned for 20 + years now.I'm not to worried about the cash,it's the pain and hassle of it I was wondering about.

been slashed a few times tho.

Back in the days those were great

Been in a few myself

the good old days when you could get into a major brawl, beat the piss out of one another and then buy rounds for everyone afterwards. Including the dudes who fought.

nowadays the heat comes out right away

Yes, one tooth. It's not a fun process, the weirdest part is having hardware drilled into your jaw. It's like your in an auto shop while it's happening. That's what freaked me out a little bit, even though I felt nothing.

The pain wasn't really a problem for me. I followed all the protocols.

It is worth it and I'd do it again if I had to.

Thanks Lil that's great advice and has put my mind at ease a bit.

I've been told that it might be a bit painful afterwards for a few months.Did you have that ?

No, I didn't have pain for very long at all. But it wasn't a front tooth. I wonder if that makes a difference...

It takes several months for the bone to grow around the hardware, so it isn't a quick thing either, btw. I'm assuming you know that, but thought I should mention it just in case.

That's actually a good price, it is often much more expensive in the US. A lot of Canadians and Americans go to Mexico for that kind of dental work.
Yeah, alot of English people go to Turkey to have it done. It's like a third of the price there.

BeJebus that is nuts.

I came accross the same sort of thing a while back though.I joined a cancer facebook group and the suffering some of those poor bastards went through (americans) because they couldn't afford the proper care brought me to tears. You can't understand it as an Englishmen as all health care is free (well not dentists).

Yep, healthcare in America is not considered a right. It's a privilege. It really sucks.

Worst that I got from a fight was having the tip of one of my fang teeth (forget what they're actually called) chipped off.

Pissed me off when I noticed; it was ony the tip and didn't really make much difference but I *liked* my natural fangs dammit.

I had a similar problem

And from the sound of it, the cost is about the same in the UK as Canada, converted from pounds to Canadian dollars.

I lost a back tooth last year.

My big mistake was going to someone who didn't care, just wanted my money and gave poor advice.

It's very hard to find a good dentist ... anywhere.

the 'profession' has been overrun by money grubbing practitioners who skill and concern are completely lacking.

Even tho the technology is supposedly superior these days, the actual level of skill of today's dentists seems much worse than it used to be. Some of these buggers can't fill teeth properly anymore or even provide a proper dianotsis.

I now go to a dentist with a 4 year degree + 3 years of specialization in his field.

But it took 3 tries to find someone who is merely competent

He's good but not outstanding.

But I suppose good or competent into day's watered down standards is sufficient.

good thing the guy is in his early 30s. That should do me until I pass on as he'll be around longer than I am (I hope)

@reaper if yer gonna get an implant, then do your research, due dilligence, ask around and try to find the best implant specialist you kin get.

Not all dentists are created equal.

some are pretty bad imho.

I used to like showing off and pop beer bottles open by biting the caps off, turns out not a good idea.

But as I was saying I have had several orthopedic surgeries over the years involving the adding and removing of various pieces of metal, the only pain I ever had was the pain from where they cut you open the soft tissues, and normally that's only 2 or 3 days, so in this case your gums may feel sore for a short time, but you'll survive.

I've always taken good care of my teeth as this is one of the first things a woman will notice on a first date

incels and dudes who are into other dudes might not know something like that tho.
