I believe building wood framed homes is passé. The resource is has been ravaged. They cannot survive fire storms like we are seeing. Wood is subject to dry rot, Termite infestation, earth quakes, heavy wind and storms, flooding, and FIRES. I believe concrete block is a much better way to build, re enforced with rebar. Yes it probably more expensive but almost ever lasting. This is how many countries build

Yes. I have never seen a wood framed house in Portugal. Cement, bricks, stone.

I think brick is problematic in earthquake prone regions, not sure about cement blocks.
No true Lily. My house survived a 7.6 earthquake, and a few smaller ones. It’s not about stacking block. It’s about the rebar within the hollow cells that are poured solid with concrete. Concrete Columns and beams holds the whole thing together. To me it’s rather remarkable construction

That sounds SOLID.

I am sure that @LettuceBrain's friends will feel a lot better knowing there are people on a Troll Board sending them condolences.

Waste, Fraud and Abuse.
He immediately started blaming everyone. I bet his neighbor's hope he doesn't rebuild.
Charlie Kirk says the fires are the result of Democratic policies, and not the fact Southern California is a desert experiencing a drought

I've never seen an actual brick house here, but the bricks are kind of inside cement. I don't know if that makes a difference.
