Republicans on Saturday vowed to investigate GoFundMe's decision to take down a page accepting donations in support of protesting truckdrivers in Canada, although GoFundMe early Saturday already said it would simply refund all donations.

It's because at first they had made some claim that they weren't going to refund the donations and they would send them to other GoFundMes.

It's not that they took the page down. Everyone knows that's against GFP to raise money for anything besides personal issues. It's that they were going to redistribute it and they reversed that decision now since people were wanting them investigated for fraud.

I don't see a problem or anything wrong with Truckers raising money for their cause. I guess they just chose the wrong platform.

I don't really agree with anti masking or anti social distancing mandates.

But I'm also getting concerned that outlets like Spotify & gofundme are aligned too closely with the directives of the governing establishment. Rather than shut these initiatives down we should encourage some dialogue.

As long as it is peaceful non violent protest I don't see the harm done. The truckers I saw yesterday seemed intimidating with their big trucks at 1st. But in the end it was just a bunch of burly guys driving their rigs down Main St honking their horns..

Yeah GFM is really strict on their fundraising. Its gotta be for personal crisises....it cant be anything politcal.

This was against their TOS from the beginning....so i wouldnt say that about gfm over this.
