That's at least as much a social construct as a biological imperative.
I've never felt a burning desire to pass on my DNA just for the sake of passing it on.

It's not like the world is in any danger of running out of bipedal hairless (mostly) apes.

Low IQ people always freak out when someone has chosen not to have kids.

I respect other peoples choices to not and there are plenty of MFers who shouldn't have.

Parenting is no joke. Im glad i did it. But I understand and respect why others dont.

Society hates deviation from norms.

It's not even that I "decided" not to have kids.
It's just worked out that way.
It could have easily gone in the other direction and I would have been an awesome dad.

But I see no good reason to mope or otherwise let that ruin my life just because I didn't "do the thing".

There are so many "normal things" I didn't do according to popular culture that I'd be a psychological trainwreck if I obsessed over them. I don't wanna be a psychological trainwreck... that doesn't sound like any fun at all.

I had my kids in wedlock.

But I was way too young and under a lot of religious pressure.

If i could do it again id have left the church as soon as they started with the courting shit. Id have gone to university and went into something I wanted to do. Married later to someone I actually wanted to marry.

But I dont mope about any of that either because im ultimately pleased with my life regardless. As im sure you are as well.

Its just interesting how people respond when someone has dared violate the decided "norms". Women who chose to not have children or who have just never had the proper circumstances they wished for get it pretty bad. If someone is in their 40s and childless people assume things went terribly wrong for them. And I hear my own set of shit because of my kids having different fathers....another criminal deviation from the norms.

I know a few people who never had kids and they are very happy with their lives. Prowler and his wife never had children either.

Having kids is one of those things in life that may or may not happen. I have friends who don't have any children.

They love it!

They have more disposable income, they go on vacation at the drop of a hat, and they're happy. They do talk about what if? Sure, they'll miss creating something from their own loins, having something that's part of them, and watching that child grow up.

I guess it's ultimately about the timing. I personally don't think less of someone who doesn't have any offspring. I just think it's a choice that they made or was made for them.

Too many unqualified people are having children, and look where we're at in regard to the stupidity that permeates in America.
