I watch a lot of TV and also spend much time online watching various videos, especially animal related ones, and time and time again I see people still having wild animals as pets. There are countless times when many humans are severely injured or killed by wild animals and yet, people still insist on having them. I am aware that there are many good people who rescue animals from abuse with honest intentions but there are also wealthy folks who have enough money to buy exotic ones. We are supposed to be the most intelligent species on earth right? So why do we continue to make some of the dumbest choices? I don't get it.

I think what happens to them from their poor decision is punishment enough.

Literally live and learn.
Are we learning though? People still have them as pets. I don't know about anyone else here but after all of the examples I've seen of owners getting killed I know enough to just leave them be and live my life while they live theirs.

And also the Disneyfication of the natural world.
More broadly, the Disneyfication of... everything. Generations raised and (mis)educated by fiction, where wishing real hard actually works and wild animals do dance-and-song numbers together instead of eating each other.

Inevitably, suspension of disbelief turns into suspension of sanity.

I don't know. People used to have common sense even going back 25 years...Disney was around long before that.

So, when any animation shows unreal behavior by animals, it's really about us.

I think it's movies, video gaming, virtual reality, etc...

Societally, we're now awash in people who think that reality simply does not apply to them.

"Well, of course it's a bad idea to own a [choose your favorite natural predator]! For everybody else... but all those bad things that happen to other people who try it? I'm not worried, because I'm special."
