As you may or may not know, I was maneuvered into a conversation with Dopey Dove about politics. She, of course, is a right-wing fundamentalist. In other words, any piece of information that doesn't come from approved right-wing sources is clearly propaganda and part of the grand plan to make her and her pals look & feel stupid.
During our unfortunate conversation, she thought that I ought to watch a video explaining Marxism by a fellow called Ryan Chapman. It was your basic intro to Marxism - nothing special, except ...
Why that one?
Marxism 101 videos are as common as smug, finger-wagging Christians are in the US. What did she find so compelling about that one in particular?
The day after, it came to me. It was because this Ryan Chapman fellow said, "Marxism is bad". Now, this might seem to be an innocuous detail to most, however to me, it provided insight into what makes Dopey Dove tick.
Marxism is an ideology that was developed in the 1800's largely as a response to horrible working conditions implemented by the classical liberals of the industrial revolution. Over the next 150 years or so, it went on to influence notable revolutions around the world. Marxism as an ideology is a bit long in the tooth these days and, in my opinion, not very useful in today's globalised world. With that said, regardless if one thinks it's "bad" or "good", its historical significance is undeniable.
"Hmmm ... very disappointing", I thought to myself. Dopey Dove is sadly like most true believers. The historical significance of Marxism is irrelevant to the fervent believer. All that matters is how it might fit with her beliefs that transgendered folks are a threat to children, that Catholics are corpse-worshipping pagans, that Trump is the best president the US has ever had, and that the Nazis were a socialist party.
Wait ... did you get that last one?
"The nazis were a socailist party"
She can't be serious...

This girl has dogshit between her ears. By getting into a conversation about politics with her, I unwittingly slathered myself in her foul brand of stupid. I feel ashamed that I thought for even a brief moment that her angry, hateful tirades might have some redeeming value. Dove is clearly thoroughly consumed by her Born-Again dogma and the only thing one can do with a seething moron like her is to publicly humiliate her over and over again.
I took a shower. I got over it. I'm better now.
