Excellent point, one small advantage in the era of Horace Greeley's and William Randolph Hearst's most cities of moderate or better size often had multiple newspapers...the "free thinkers" could buy 2-3 papers and parse the story out of each...now print is all but dead, the internet is a jungle full of click bait and ads...and a rats nest of bullshit conspiracy resellers. It seems to be getting harder to be an informed voter/consumer not easier, unless you're very determined to seek out the legit news sites and pony up and pay the subscription fees for them
