These forums (BF, VF, and TBC) have an interesting, if convoluted, shared history.
In roughly chronological order (with approximate dates, to the best of my recollection--those who were there can correct me or add details if they so wish):
2008: Bec, current owner/admin of VF, opened VF on the smouldering ash pile of Vin's Discover Vancouver Forum.
2011: I joined VF at the behest of my brother, who'd been a member there since day one.
2012: I became a Global Mod at VF at the end of that year.
2012: Bec created the Asian-Canadian Corner sub-forum and let VF member Fashionista run it. It eventually changed its name to the Asian-Canadian Forum.
2013: I joined BAS (Banned All-Stars) whose members occasionally visited VF. It's where I first met Rotwang, who enjoyed trolling VF.
2014: I became interim Admin at VF when Bec had to go to Europe to deal with personal family issues. I eventhally made VF member RealWoman (aka Starling) one of my Global Mods.
2014: VF went through a mutiny of sorts over the behaviour of Edward, one of its mentally ill members, who had taken his trolling out into the real world, threatening the livelihood of some members by contacting their employers (in one case, posting pornography on a budding--now established--author's Young Adult fiction web site). Said mutiny was egged on by Rotwang, who took great pleasure in exacerbating division among the ranks. I wound up IP-banning Edward (a last resort). Targets of Edward's shenanigans also involved the Vancouver Police Department and the federal cops (RCMP). As a result of this mutiny, the ACF sub-forum migrated to its own board and was renamed The Blue Cashew (where I helped Fashionista set up some of the background stuff). There Rotwang (who had no idea I was active behind the scenes) elected to hole up as he endeavoured to get his hooks into the female membership and administrators/mods there. This migration was spurred on by Bec's reversal of my decision to ban Edward, which eventually led me to abdicate my role as Admin and to go open my own board, a forum I aimed to make both Edward-free and Rotwang-free. I made VF members Mimi and Kiebers (aka Cronus) part of my Mod team. Before all this happened, though, Starling, using her Mod panel at VF, succeeded in erasing the near entirety of her 22,000 posts, severely damaging the flow of VF discussion threads.
2014: Still not happy at not being able to be a greater influencer than he already was on the newly minted TBC, Rotwang went on recruiting drive at Brawl Hall to incite a forum raid on TBC. The B-Hallers laughed him out of their front yard, telling him to grow up (I saw this with my own eyes as a lurker on BH--and it was a sight to behold!). His efforts were futile but he eventually managed to e-seduce Starling, who soon came to be owner of the site hosting TBC, into a doomed-to-failure online romance.
2015: Bastard Factory 1.0 (which I had up until then only heard mentioned in passing) died a noble death, much of its membership either retiring or flooding other boards, including VF and TBC. Whence came such luminaries.as.Irish Kam, UncleDiLF, Gallium (aka Breakfall), Dageaux, deadskinmask (to this day, a favourite poster of mine and former Mod at my forum--now a Global Mod at VF--despite all our ideological differences}, Caskur (aka Omnipotent), Scouse_Nazi (aka Adam Hitler), CorsetKat, etc. Kat even got her own sub at VF called The Bastard Annex. She also kept pestering me for a blood-red font at my own now-defunct forum. The Lioness and Boo Radley opened the short-lived Bastard Vortex (which I had also joined before its untimely demise).
2017: Just before things went sour between Starling and Rotwang, the former opened her own forum called Shaddap Yo Face. Also short-lived. Starling retired from public view shortly thereafter (although rumour has it she's still active in some corners of the internet). I believe it was also around this time that Flea opened her Pissed Off forum. That one was short-lived, too.
2018: Flea opened her by now legendary Stomping Groundz, which Biggie eventually destroyed. Murdie opened the Mosh Pit. CW ran Flametruth. And, like a phoenix rising from its own ashes, Bastard Factory 2.0 unfurled its fiery wings and called its children home. I was a lurker at 1.0 but chose to participate in 2.0.
Throughout this entire history, there was also a mosquito buzzing around who goes by the name of King Martini.
I have no knowledge of Troll Valhalla, Third Rail, Cosmic Outpost, Flame Champs, Flame for $$$, The YNC, etc., as, not being a flamer, I've never been to any of those places.
This is forum history as I remember.it and from my POV. Again, please feel free.to amend it.or to provide greater detail.
