In terms of guns and gun ownership, Britain and America are like oil and water. Owning a gun, buying ammo or even going to a shooting gallery are basically alien concepts here. The only members of the public who have guns in the UK are criminals, farmers or rich types who use them for hunting.

I've never lived in a society where it's normal for civilians to carry a handgun, so from my perspective the fact that guns are verboten isn't something that bothers me. The old saying that you don't miss what you've never had applies here I think.....

I agree with you about the thought police bullshit where you can be arrested and prosecuted for using words which are deemed offensive. That is complete nannystate bullshit and is straight out of the Cultural Marxist handbook.
