Mine isn't nearly so severe, nor gained in such a noble endeavor.

I was helping build a stage in a local coliseum (hosting roller derby tomorrow) and one of the panels was being stubborn about seating itself on the struts. While jostling the strut the panel dropped sooner than I expected; I *almost* managed to pull my hand back in time but the tip of my right middle finger got a little squished. Didn't bleed much and now it's just kinda sore but it's still a pain in the arse because it's in a damned inconvenient place, constantly bumped scraped and poked.

<curmudgeonly grumbling noises>

I got my hand smashed when I was 24. I was crawling underneath a very large hydroelectric generator in order to knock out cores and reciprocate saw asbestos wrapped wiring.

When I reached out in the crawl space to get upright, scaffolding came crashing down on my hand from 45-50 feet. Somebody untied and tried to move it manually.

I had to lift up the scaffolding to remove my hand and then back out through the same space. That scaffolding was made of pine and was probably a couple hundreds of pounds.

When I got out, I asked for ice. Everybody gathered around in shock. After a few minutes, I had to find my own ice and ice bucket. There was one ice machine. I found it. I was like "let's go"... still a delay.

Everybody was still in shock... I was starting to....and I'm like, "get me to the fucking hospital and shut the fuck up".

Somewhere along the drive, I started losing consciousness... I made myself stay awake.

I got to the hospital , passed out from the pain, and I was attended to by a hand and foot surgeon who had nothing to do with that hospital. He was just on holiday in the area...

He saved my hand. It still works as good as it did before... almost... maybe 90%.. I don't notice it. I can't nail down any differences because it works and I was young when it happened.

If he wasn't there, I would have every finger except a pinkie removed.. and some knuckles.

So I Google Roller Derby VA because I figure how much of that stuff could still be going on, right? Turns out lots. I haven't seen a RD since the late eighties at least. There are leagues all over VA. I find this incredible. When I have some time I have to YouTube that shit and watch to see if it's still as violent as it used to be.

Btw, a little cut on ones middle finger ain't shit you guys are rivaling the sobs of the Froodle, of which I could write a book with that title,
peace-

I watched it on TV many years ago. Basically the large ladies try to destroy the smaller petit ladies who are trying to score somehow I will have to watch it again I don't remember. Everybody is on roller skates in like a circle track. It's actually exciting to watch. You should catch a match.

I remember watching that too. The thick ugly dykie broads would try to knock the smaller hot broads off the track. Never did figure out how they scored anything.

Idk either but the big broads bounce each other too and usually they're like hockey players with missing teeth and shit they weren't too protected with helmets and padding back then I'm sure they are now.

I know a bit about roller derby. It is a bit of a subculture thing. I think most of the broads are kinda social rejects who are somewhat athletic and are looking for companionship/friendship.

It is fun to watch. Unlike the stuff that was on TV in the 70's, this stuff is not scripted and "fake". So it is not as spectacular with the big, unbelievable hits and maneuvers that you saw on TV...but it is still entertaining.

And, in my experience, all the teams go out to drink to the same bar and you are guaranteed a packed bar with a lot of women partying and having a good time.
