The west did way to little way to late to help Ukraine. We are currently doing the same to Taiwan, Moldova and Georgia.

DW has had some fairly balanced coverage so far. It is interesting that not only do captured Russian units not have GPS or modern radios which can coordinate with aircraft or even other units but many of them don't even seem to have maps of Ukraine. They were told they were on a training exercise and then simply ordered into Ukraine without being told what was going on.

A sobering and realistic assessment of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Russia will succeed with its invasion even if things aren't going as well as Putin wanted. There probably will be some form of resistance which will ultimately drag on and on but will take at least a decade to bleed Russia or resources, Putin seems to want to quickly follow up an invasion of Ukraine with an invasion of Moldova to form a new Russian Empire of sorts. His resources will be extremely stretch over the medium to long run though and severe sanctions will mean Russia is forced into a junior partner status alliance with Communist China.

The forced a civilian cargo ship from Estonia (a NATO member) into a mined area of the black sea saying they would open fire on the Estonian ship if they did not comply. The Russians wanted to use the Estonian ship as cover to approach the Ukrainian port city of Odessa. The hijacked Estonian ship struck a mine and sank with for crew members missing and feared dead.



Expect global prices for oil and wheat to go way up. Russia and Ukraine are two of the largest wheat exporters in the world and most of it goes out via the black sea as does half of Russia's over seas oil shipments. Countries like Egypt get half of their wheat supply from there so many north African and Midwest countries are going to see bread prices go way up.

Captured Russian soldiers have repeatedly said they were only given two days rations because they expected to be in Kiev by then. Eight days later and whole columns are out of fuel and without food. Thus why they are stealing from local people and stores in Ukraine. So, no, it really isn't that reasonable to believe Russians are giving out tons of food to civilians when Russian soldiers are without food.
