Hey - as I had previously noted, that 20+ percent cut that was projected in 9 years will now be a 33% cut in 6 years.
. This bullshit should not have happened w/o the additional payouts being matched by revenue increases...and more.

Fucking assholes !

The numbers I've read talk about the fund becoming insolvent 6 months sooner than without the change. It will restore benefits for people that have paid into it.

Insolvency can be addressed by Congress not stealing that money and using it elsewhere.

I don't see why people that paid into it, should have their benefits greatly reduced.

Don't expect a huge cost for this. Most of the people that I know who were affected by this, are dead. I know one guy who got reduced, and he is 81. This began in 1983. In 1985 CSRS was changed to FERS and FERS has a SS component. I know only one CSRS guy still working and he is at the top of the seniority list. He owned a record store on the side and he did contribute to SS. His SS benefit would be reduced just because he is a Federal retiree. This law fixes that.

Here is the scenario that pisses me off the most: A total useless bum, never worked a day in his life. But his wife worked all her life. She retires and collects SS benefits. She dies and he gets her SS survivor benefit. I worked all my life, so did my wife. I can't collect SS but she does. If she dies, I do not get her SS survivor benefits. This law fixes that.
