For me, it comes back to the discussion I had with Oliver Clotheshoffe about what flaming/roasting/trolling once was and how it is in 2022..

Oliver and I seem to be in agreement that repetitive race lames or churlish body size/appearance putdowns are a poor substitute for creative roasting........if creativity is even possible today among the remains of the flaming community as King Martini calls it..

This is just my opinion of course that I'm sure a few other people share, but I understand if a person is angry enough they may consider that valued content.

Since you've namedropped Ollie a couple of times here, let me say that I consider him a wise old hand on forums and I agree with him in many respects, politics excepted. I think he's mostly correct about the glory days being past, and I personally think it's because the "community" of misfits we're talking about is so small that in most cases everyone has lost some aspects of the personal anonymity they once had. One even saw this occurring on the old Yahoo boards, as huge as they were, where certain posters would overexpose their trademark Troll, leading to a situation where nobody would take the bait beyond posting a chorus of "Shut up, Herb" or whatever the equivalent was for that poster.

People any more don't look for new stylings, and mostly they don't even bother coming up with new content either. Familiarity has bred contempt, and both this forum and the Cashew are good places to see that contempt on display.

And I'd be the last guy to think anger was worthwhile content. I've never thought it was.
