Here you are:@larryloungelizard here's your chance to make it true
I have loved NIN since 1993. When i was 13 and had no business listening to albums like Pretty Hate Machine. But, i was absolutely a NIN freak growing up. Trent Reznor has not a released a single bad album ever and i have all of them.
And my beautiful daughters...who are adults now....became genuine NIN fans as well. Theyve been hearing it their whole lives, but became fans themselves in high school.
Theyve told me how jealous they are that i saw NIN with Bowie back in the 90s and they made it their mission to see NIN in concert. And the other night they accomplished that mission and saw NIN at Little Ceasers Arena in Detroit. They badly wanted me to join them but i hung back because i didnt want to leave Squish with a sitter. I regret the fuck out of this because goddamn it was an exceptionally great show. And they really wanted me to share this experience with them so i wish i had just gone.
My oldest daughter came to pick up her sister and she requested my old NIN tour shirt from when i saw NIN with David Bowie in 1995. And i almost got teary over it
Going to see her first NIN show in the t shirt i got at MY first NIN show 30 years ago. All these years i had kept that shirt and i never let anyone wear it. Hell i barely wore it. I treated it like some holy relic. But i was happy to GIVE it to my oldest. It is now hers to keep ♡
Trent Reznor is 60 and still such a beast. And he did a lot of older songs and none of them have aged in 30 years. Nor has his voice!
Closer remix from Detroit the other night
I just think its so fucking cool that just a few nights ago, an entire arena was packed with people from 3 whole generations all rocking out to the same music. Same artist.
When i saw NIN the first time, a whole bunch of hippie era boomers showed up for David Bowie and none of them were prepared for the heavy, visceral, grittiness of NIN and quite a few were like "oh my GOD what is this vulgar FILTH?! This is Bowies lowest point! This band is garbage!!"
And 30 years later, their kids....and now their grandkids....are still packing arenas and singing "i wanna fuck you like an animal!!'
So take that, Boomers!! Not only is Reznor still going strong.....his music is still relevent, still going hard, still loved by MY generation and now the new one. I would argue that he has even exceeded Bowie as an artist. And i love me some Bowie so that says a lot.
Back then people said NIN was before its time and after seeing these old songs performed as if they are all new releases with the same energy and modern technology.....i see that was absolutely true.
All the older artists and musicians are all aging like fucking milk. Vince Neil and the rest of Motley Crue are aging bad. Axl Rose...uhg. The Counting Crows guy. Anthony Keidis (?).....they are all a mess.
Trent? He is still going strong as fuck! I think another 20 years of NIN is entirely possible. And i hope we get that!
Here's a good one.
