You were K.I.A. by a sniper bullet.
Your body was tossed onto a burn pile, but I was able to send agents to retrieve your body before it was destroyed beyond repair. In route to the medical facility your brain was the only thing the medics could save. Your brain has been alseep for 1000 years. What you see here is merely a hologram. There are no more humans. Mother Nature decided that only things at a subatomic particle level could live on Earth. The leftover A.I. decided to jettison itself into space and take over the old and abandoned International Space Station. You are free to go through the history records of the last 1000 years.
