The coroner’s report stated multiple gunshot wounds as the cause of death, which sounds to me like the cop unloaded his clip. I think it’s excessive even if the report is true that she had a knife and was attacking the boyfriend.

However, domestic violence situations are extremely dangerous for anyone involved including the police. I would need to see the body cam footage to be able to make an accurate assessment here.

That is true domestic violence calls are not high on the list of fave calls for cops.
