Taxes don't fund anything in a fiat monetary system. Congress creates dollars through appropriations and taxes delete money from circulation; taxes exist primarily to ensure a steady demand for dollars (needed to pay taxes) and thus prop up the currency's valuation.

Taxes have been weaponized like everything else in a predatory capitalist system and part of that weaponization is the Big Lie that any/everything is "taxpayer funded". That's only an excuse *not* to spend money on programs to benefit citizens instead of transferring wealth to oligarchs and the military industrial complex.

There's always a blank check for more war or to bail out wall street but programs to improve the lives of citizens are constantly stonewalled with the ol' "how ya gonna pay for that?" bullshit. An exhausted scared and desperate populace is easier to control and less likely to revolt.

That is the whole point of insurance, shared risk. The bigger the pool of insured the bigger the war chest is to pay for catastrophic losses.

I know that Admin. The problem is that it still didn't cover all Americans, and it's a patchwork system...with lots of gaps.

It's mediocre at best. There should be a Medicare for all option for Americans. And the wealthy can do what the fuck they already do, pay fee for service to doctors of their choosing.

Obummer never cared about 'Muricans which should have been obvious to all when he let CitiGroup choose his first cabinet for him. After that the "Affordable Care Act" (during negotiations the first element to fall off the table was a public option... the very thing he promised during his campaign) as well as his reactions to events like Occupy Wall Street and the Standing Rock protest weren't surprising at all.
