I still remember paying 5 bucks to see the Canadian prairie band called Tamarack or Tamorac in 1993. They were easily worth a 50 buck price... dulcet voices and strings.

Yeah I remember my friends dad talking about how expensive the 30 dollar Metallica tickets were lol
His parents were old hippies. I went to see Bob Dylan with them and went to a Further Festival with them and saw all the hippie bands.
Im still friends with their son so I have them on socail media and they have a bad case of TDS.
I saw Misfits with Danzig for like 12 bucks in Pontiac. That was a crazy night and i met Danzig.

I can't believe how freaking expensive concert tickets are nowadays. Last summer my daughter was going to surprise me with AC/DC tickets for the show they played at Soldier Field, but they were going for like $800 fucking dollars. That's absolutely ridiculous and them old fucks can't play like they used to. I've seen the videos of their recent shows and I wouldn't pay that kind of money to see old men play old songs.

Yep. Both of my girls got tickets for NIN last summer at Little Ceasers Arena and they spent over 1k....they didnt even get expensive seats!
They saved for that concert for a LONG time and planned it all out. They really wanted me to join them as im the reason they love NIN but as much as I wanted to, those tickets were nuts.
I DO regret not joining them and I swore an oath next one I will lol.
My 20 year old is ALWAYS going to some sort of show or concert. She goes to all these little emo bands like "Pierce the Vale" and shit I've even heard of hahaha. She reminds me of me a lot. Shes my little goth and brags how her mom was an OG 90s goth kid lol.
My wife & I only give cards once in a surprise while just to gush on each other. For Xmas, Valentines & birthdays we just treat each other to a nice meal. There's nothing more in any card we can give each other than everything we've given each other already.

That being said... back in the day, artists lost money touring but toured to make money on album sales & merch.
Nowadays artists need to make money on tours & merch because no one buys albums anymore.
I saw Metallica in '92 for like $36 to $43. They are probably $100 or over now.
But still...the rising costs of concerts are less over decades vs pre covid & post covid house prices. That's the real bullshit.

I saw Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers with Bob Dylan at Rich Stadium in Buffalo in 1986. The Grateful Dead were the opening act.
Another Tom Petty connection...I saw Paul McCartney in Detroit the day Tom Petty died.
