Yeah. Minimum wage is around $800 a month here. That used to be enough to live on, but in the last five years all the Airbnb ers and house flippers have ruined that.

Almost everything related to wine and growing grapes is SubContracted out. Maintenance, pesticides, picking, fermenting and labeling and bottling. A few large wineries still do it themselves, but not many.

My neighbor's son just told me the other day that his mom, the neighbor I really adore, has Alzheimer's. My heart is breaking over that. Gonna go check on her now.

Oh. Yes, it is so very, very bad for the general local economies. It's horrific. Housing costs have literally doubled in the last 3 years. I hate all these fucking house flippers with a passion.

It just breaks my heart to see people work that hard for so little money while Musk and Bezos and their ilk just rake in more and more money that they can't spend. What a world.

Thye laws need to get strict. Portugal has cracked down on Airbnbs in Lisbon and Porto, and they got rid of the golden visa scheme, but they haven't done enough.

And now with the center right in control, I don't know if they ever will do enough. The right blames poor immigrants for this, not rich investors.

Yes, there are a lot of empty houses in Portugal. And speculators are buying them, which helps no one but the already wealthy.
