Zorin 18 is another great Linux distro for somebody coming over from Windows, *except* that it runs on a modified (and IMO rather long-in-the-tooth) version of the GNOME desktop environment. At this point, Cinnamon is the more mature desktop environment, so LinuxMint is where it's at.

Basic thing to understand about GNU+Linux: Every Linux OS has three parts:

1. GNU -- this is the kernel. Tells the OS how to use your hardware

2. Distribution -- this is basically the 'under the hood' shit. Software package management, etc

3. Desktop Environment -- the part you look at and use.

that's why the products get worse cuz somebody adds their shit then someone else adds theirs til the product becomes so bureaucratic and bloated til finally it becomes unusable
