Zorin 18 is another great Linux distro for somebody coming over from Windows, *except* that it runs on a modified (and IMO rather long-in-the-tooth) version of the GNOME desktop environment. At this point, Cinnamon is the more mature desktop environment, so LinuxMint is where it's at.

Basic thing to understand about GNU+Linux: Every Linux OS has three parts:

1. GNU -- this is the kernel. Tells the OS how to use your hardware

2. Distribution -- this is basically the 'under the hood' shit. Software package management, etc

3. Desktop Environment -- the part you look at and use.
