Steam has supported Linux gaming for a while; they've been indispensable with the development of the Proton translation layer.

But, yeah, that's why I'm about to test-drive Bazzite -- it's basically a more mature community-driven variation on SteamOS.

I've been curious to see how well Windows 11 runs under Linux in VMware

As in, it does all the same stuff; it's Fedora-based, whereas SteamOS is Arch-based.

But then I remember I play a game that's 100% dependent on Windows because it has intrusive anticheat LOL

The impetus for switching away from Fedora is that, although it runs everything I want it to, Fallout New Vegas (modded) on stock Fedora is giving >24 frames per second. Barely playable, and combat is just not fun. On W11, I was getting well over 30FPS, which is way more doable.
