How many tourists visit the USA a year? The number of overseas visitors to the United States fluctuated from 2000 to 2024. In 2024, there were 35.16 million overseas visitors to the U.S., up from the previous year's total of 31.47

35 million visitors to a country of over 300 million. Honey, you have to take into consideration the size of the country and the population. Portugal is the size of Indiana, with a population of 10 million, and we get close to 20 million tourists. Can you math, at all?

He doesn't even undertand. The US is the size of about 100 Portugals, and they don't even get double the number of toursits we get. But the point is, how many Americans LEAVE the US and check out other countries? He's not even on topic.

I was discussing the number of Europeans who come to Portugal because tht' an indicator of how many people in Europe leave their own countries to visit countries with other cultures and languages, not because I was saying Portugal has a lot of tourists (which we do, but that's beside the point).

It is also incredibly expensive for Americans to go abroad since you generally have to fly. Europeans can get to another country for less than 20 euros

Yes. It's expensive to even fly from one state to another in the US. Very expensive. My kids live in 2 different states. It's a pain. We have to save up to visit them both.

The latest reading of the Federal Reserve's preferred inflation gauge showed prices increased more than expected in February as inflation remained above the Fed's 2% target. The release comes as investors have been closely watching data releases for signs of how President Donald Trump's tariff policy is impacting the economy.
