I have a cousin that took care of our grandmother almost full time. She didn't want to leave her home and didn't have to because of my cousin.

Yes, good for you, @Admin. My neighbor has Alzheimer's but really, her only system is she has no idea where she is in time. She recognizes everyone and remembers things, but she thinks Easter is tommorrow, nd she wants to go to Mass on tuesday, etc,

No, not really most of the time she knew I was a friendly helper, but before the right meds there were a couple times I had to physically restrain her from leaving to go to her “real house!”

I would take my morning break to the dog park, with the neighbor lady sitting in the living room, jic just before I left as I finished helping her with yogurt and oatmeal, she looked serene as she looked into my eyes she said my Thank You____, when I got back an hour later, she was gone.

In some ways, I see being with people during their last days on Earth as a kind of privilege, even though it is super painful.
Once we got her mood and anxiety managed, there were interesting moments, one example. She would do what they call sundowning she would get up in the middle of the night on a mission, this one evening she had set up the card tables from her bridge playing days, with the chairs and cards arranged around the table…about three in the morning A heavy hand pounds on my br door and Officer Smith asked me to step out to speak with him. I’m “wtf?” Mom was worried about her Bridge players and called the police.
